Today, EUROPGEN published a position paper on the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). While we support the EU’s climate ambitions, we believe CBAM, as currently structured, risks unintended consequences for European manufacturers and the global fight against carbon emissions. 🚨

💡 EUROPGEN’s Recommendations:
✅ Freeze CBAM for two years to assess its economic impact.
✅ Extend CBAM to include finished goods for fair competition.
✅ Provide temporary exemptions for critical industries to ensure market stability.
✅ Introduce offset mechanisms or subsidies to support innovation.
✅ Commit to transparency and regular reviews to refine CBAM’s effectiveness.
